The Daily Star staff were all laid off today via email and the newspaper is set to shut down. The news has been a long time coming as there hasn't been any new publication since October 8 and a recently posted announcement on their website confirmed they are no longer updating it as well. Lebanon's vaccination campaign against COVID-19 was launched on January 27 2021, and the former Public Health Minister had promised 80% of the population would be fully vaccinated by the end of the year. Despite having several animal shelters working tirelessly to take care of abused and abandoned animals, stray animals are still a big problem in Lebanon as there's a huge lack of awareness among the public and especially among municipalities on how to handle them. We're fortunate though to have many kind-hearted individuals going out of their way to rescue and protect these stray animals, and 22-year-old Rayan Akil is one of them. Rayan is always helping…

The Lebanese parliament agreed to cancel the unjust 6 diaspora seats and set an earlier date for the 2022 elections on the 27th of March, instead of holding them during May. However, the president has declined to ratify Parliament's decision citing climatic and logistical factors, and also adding that 10,685 Lebanese would be deprived of their right to vote, as they would not have reached the age of 21, if elections are held in March.…
