Loop Scooters is a fully integrated and eco-friendly electric scooter sharing service in Beirut that gives you access to a fleet of electric scooters whenever you need to commute. The service was first launched on May 18 and it’s the first of its kind in Lebanon and the Middle East. So far they’ve launched one station at Berytech 1294 in Beirut Digital District but they’ve already secured funds to support their trial operation of 55 scooters so hopefully they’ll be adding more stations in the coming months!

How does it work?

Step1: Download the app for [iOS] and [Android].

Step2: Book your electric scooter. Once you register on the app, all you have to do is log in, book your scooter, get the 4 digit PIN and get to the station within 15 minutes.

Step3: Head out to the station and unlock your scooter. Use the PIN provided, unlock your scooter and off you go!

Step4: Ride and park you scooter. You don’t need keys to unlock it and each scooter comes with a helmet in the rear box.

Here’s the how-to video which I recommend you watch:

Do I need a motorcyle license?

You only need to provide a copy of your car driving license to book the scooters and you can easily do so by uploading it while registering on the app. If you’ve never ridden a scooter before, there’s a 30 minutes introductory riding course offered by Loop instructors. We all rent scooters when we’re traveling to Cyprus or Greece so it shouldn’t be a hassle đŸ™‚

I think this is a great idea that definitely has potential in Beirut, especially for people who drive from one meeting to another and want to reach their destination in an easy, convenient, timely and affordable manner.
