Quoting Telecoms Minister Boutros Harb, 85 percent of the Lebanese population will have access to the service by the end of 2017, which means in less than a year time. Minister Sehnaoui said the same thing back in 2013 but we all know how that went. The real problem is not in the Telecoms Minister at the moment but at Ogero’s side and we could very easily get connected to the fiber optics within a year time if the government, and mainly our new PM Saad Hariri, pressures Ogero to do so.

Hariri has already stated that improving Lebanon’s internet is on top of the future government’s agenda, so let’s keep our fingers crossed*.

* Assuming we will have a government sometime soon.
