Twelve years ago, we were promised 24/7 electricity by Lebanon's energy minister at the time Gebran Bassil, but we all know how that went. This week, Energy Minister Walid Fayyad mentioned during an interview with Al-Manar that we should expect 24/7 electricity by 2025 or 2026 if all parties commit to his proposed plan. The "Egg" building is one of Beirut's most iconic landmarks. It was built in 1966 by Lebanese architect Joseph Philip Karam and was part of a multi-user complex including an egg-spaced shell and two high towers with spaces for leisure and offices. Earlier in December, SMEX as well as several online activists raised doubts regarding the security measures taken to protect the data being captured on the Health Ministry's MOPH Pass platform. I stumbled upon today an aerial shot of Beirut's port taken in 1929 by François Pierre-Alype, found on the National Library of France website.
